Whilst the city area is mostly flat, there are lots of mountains all around Seoul and Koreans enjoy getting away from the city and getting exercise by hiking up them. I went with Tina, her Mum and Sister to see what it was like. We went to the top of the smallest peak in the mountain range called pukhansan. The weather was over 30 degrees so it was hot work but in under an hour we were at the top, enjoying fatastic views and fresh air. The edges looked scary in places and when we got back down and looked up we realised we were standing right near the edge.
On the peak there are hundreds of dragonflies and the views of the surrounding mountains are incredible. There are a number of Buddhist temples in the mountain areas and we could see a large Buddha statue in the distance.
Afterwards we ate dotorimug which is a traditional mountain food, made from ground acorns taken from the mountain which make the brown stuff you can see in the picture.
