Gumdo

Gumdo is much more difficult than i thought it would be. This is not helped by it being summer here, so the training room is 30+ degrees with no air conditioning, so with the humidity it feels like 35 and whilst wearing the Gumdo Dobok which is thick and heavy you get hot, and sweat loads. Swinging a bamboo sword around looks easy but it is very difficult. The footwork is very complicated and repeatedly performing the same moves hundreds of times soon removes the skin from the bottom of your feet. The instructor ensures us that this is required for our feet to get to "the next level".

However hard training it may be but it is very enjoyable. The group members are very friendly and insist that you become part of the team. Some of them speak better English than my Korean so that's helpful as my conversation skills are limited.

Here are some photo's of the leisure centre where the class is and the street we walk down on the way home. The leisure centre is really good and there are children playing outside at 9pm (you won't see that in bramcote leisure carpark), and the street is busy and full of people eating and selling things. The atmosphere there is great.

Hopefully, I will get some photo's and videos of the Gumdo class soon.
